What's Coming Up

Blind Sports Australia, in collaboration with Blind Sports WA and with the support of Tennis Australia and the Australian Sports Commission, invites coaches from all sports to attend a free, two-day Coach Development Weekend in Perth.
This in-person program focuses on inclusive coaching and communication, with practical learning that can be applied across any sport or coaching environment.
Dates: Saturday 10 – Sunday 11 January 2026
Cost: Free (participants cover travel and accommodation)
Saturday – Full day
Coaching Upskill Workshop
Foundations of blind and vision-impaired sport, B1 coaching principles, and inclusive practice.
Location: City West Lotteries House
Sunday – Half day
Practical on-court coaching session working directly with blind and vision-impaired athletes.
Location: Victoria Park Leisure Life Centre
Participants will work directly with blind and vision-impaired athletes, including B1 players (athletes who are totally blind or have light perception only).
The program explores coaching when visual cues are removed, highlighting the importance of communication, trust, and adaptability.
Open to coaches from all sports and disciplines, including those working in mainstream or disability sport, who want to strengthen their inclusive coaching skills.
National Volunteer Week 2025 – Celebrating the People Who Make It All Happen
Blind Sports WA was proud to celebrate National Volunteer Week with a special morning at Cambridge Bowling Club, alongside Vision Australia Radio, Bowls WA, Vision Impaired & Blind Bowlers WA (VIBBWA) and Australian Blind Bowlers Association (ABBA)
Thanks to support from Volunteering WA and Lotterywest, the event brought together volunteers from across the blind and low vision community – recognising the vital role they play in making inclusive sport possible.
At Blind Sports WA, our volunteers are the heartbeat of everything we do. Whether it’s guiding a player, helping set up for an event, or just being there for a chat – their impact is huge.
